Cost basics
Operating cost depends on power draw, runtime, and maintenance.
Electricity use is usually the largest recurring cost, but filters, pumps, drain hoses, and replacement accessories can also affect long-term ownership costs.
Operating-cost calculator
Estimate electricity cost
Start with an example wattage, runtime, and electricity rate, then replace them with your unit details and local utility rate. Product selections are used only when DrySpace has verified or supported estimated power data.
Estimated results
- Daily electricity use
- 5.6 kWh
- Daily operating cost
- $0.90
- Monthly cost
- $27.24
- Annual cost
- $327.04
Using 30.4 days.
Using 365 days.
Formula
watts / 1000 x runtime hours x electricity rate = operating cost
In this estimate: 700 / 1000 x 8 x $0.16 = $0.90 per day.
What affects real runtime?
This calculator estimates electricity use from wattage, runtime, and electricity rate. Actual runtime varies with humidity, temperature, crawl-space conditions, set point, air sealing, drainage, and equipment cycling.
A crawl-space dehumidifier does not necessarily run continuously. Runtime hours should represent estimated on-time, not simply hours that the unit is plugged in.
